BIRTH
Bishop Charles Munyi Mumu was born on December 6th, 1950, in Ruthanju Village, Thangathi Location, Mukurweini Sub-County, Nyeri County. He was the fourth child of the late Benson Mumu Kiumbi and the late Esther Wangari Mumu. He was a loving brother to the late James Mwangi Mumu, late Wangui Mumu, Margaret Wamuyu Mugambi, Wilfred Murigu Mumu, Wilson Maina Mumu, late Mutitu Mumu, Gladys Wanjiru Ngari, Eunice Kuria (Wakanyi), and Mary Wangui Mugendi.
EDUCATION
The late Bishop Charles Munyi schooled just like any other child and joined Thangathi Primary School where he sat for his Certificate for Primary Education (C. P.E.) in 1969 and later proceeded to Ofafa Jericho Secondary School until 1973. He later enrolled and trained as an automotive mechanic at Kombo Munyiri Garage under the mentorship of one Mzee Muturi Inyathiu where he specialized in improving vehicle systems, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles.
OCCUPATION
After completing his training as an automotive mechanic, he opened his own business under the name CoreStar Radiators, along Kombo Munyiri Road. He later moved his automotive garage to Park Road, Pangani area, up until 2008, where he transitioned into full-time ministry. The late Bishop Charles Munyi was a generous, loving and very prayerful man. He was diligent in his work and balanced between working in his garage business at Park Road, Car Wash Business in Kahawa West and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
MARRIAGE
On December 6th, 1980, Bishop Charles Munyi married the love of his life, the late Irene Wangui Munyi, at Mihuti Full Gospel Church and lived a happy life. God blessed them with three children: Faith Joy Wangari, the late Isaac Mumu, and Keziah Muthoni. The late Bishop Charles Munyi has left behind two doting grandchildren: Marly Kendi and Shamar Muriuki.
He was a brother-in-law to the late Charity Wangui Mwangi, the late Mugambi Kairibu, Trisa Wanjiru Murigu, Purity Maina, Jesse Ngari, John Kuria, and Franklin Mugendi.
CHURCH
Bishop Charles Munyi Mumu accepted Christ as his Personal Savior in 1978. He was faithful in his service to the church and ministered at All Nations Gospel Church, Gikomba (PEFA), where he served in the Ushers Department. He eventually became a Senior Usher and led the ushering team for many years. Later, he responded to the call of ministry and became a pastor, mentored by the late Bishop Samuel Mwatha (General Overseer of PEFA) and Bishop Mutiso. He was instrumental in starting the PEFA Thangathi Branch, and many others where he led many people to Christ. In 2006, he founded Wise Christian Ministries and was ordained as a Senior Minister and also where he ministered and mentored many pastors until his passing.
SICKNESS
Bishop Charles Munyi Mumu enjoyed a healthy, vibrant life until 2017 when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He successfully managed his condition over the years and was a source of encouragement to many who visited him.
On February 17th, 2025, he fell ill and was rushed to Kenyatta Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU and received specialized care. Sadly, on the morning of February 19th, 2025, he was promoted to glory.
He leaves behind his children and grandchildren.
